The 26th April 1986 a radioactive cloud spreads from the Russian nuclear power station. A large variety of radioelements have been scattered all over the earth, with a predominance of caesium and strontium, which ratio characterises the event.
To modelize repercussions of such a contamination along the foodstrain, measures of migrating elements where lead in the ground and into vegetals. It was for me an opportunity to get used to radiobiologic technics, also as chemical and spectrometric approaches.
The society has developed portable apparatus to measure mineral ions and pH, such as photometres and resistometres. The aim is to improve the number of cheaper individual analysis. My objective is to define the apparatus fiability and precision limits, and to improve their abilities and performances.
Also less precise than laboratories analysis, these portables apparatus are interesting for continuous and numerous measures, provided that they're complemented with some laboratories measures and that conditions of fiability are respected.
Monoclonal antibodies are useful stuffs to characterise specific antigenic sequences. This characteristic has been used to study herpesvirus interactions with chicken MHC molecules, which seems to be the virus incoming way.
We had to produce such a specific monoclonal antibody, to characterise it and to determine its molecular specificity by developing up an experimental protocol.
The L1 major protein of human papillomavirus type 16 was expressed in Sf-21 insect cells with a recombinant baculovirus vector. Purified particules reacted with monoclonal anti-HPV-16-L1 antibody in Western blot and immuno dot blot suggesting that conformational epitopes are present in the recombinant particules. A correlation with PCR results suggests that HPV-16-L1 virions produced by the baculovirus system mightbe useful for developing serologic tests and may offer potential for vaccine development. Classic and genetic vaccines where tested.
We evaluated fatty acids influence on tumour development. A new simplified protocol of cell cycle measurement by cytometry is developed.
Datura innoxia Mill. tropanic alkaloids such as hyoscyamin and scopolamin are pharmacologically interesting, and are mainly synthezized in roots. A gene, encoding for a functional enzyme possibly involved in the tropanic alkaloids biosynthesis, was introduced by the Laboratory A.E.B. in plants of Datura innoxia. Isolated root cultures, as hairy roots, are formed after a second genetic transformation, to quantify their alkaloids contents. A statistical study made on a large number of such hairy roots, would allow to evaluate the incidence on alkaloid contents of the double genetic transformation.
Actually, Tropanic alkaloids extraction and H.P.L.C. dosage methods, used by the Laboratory A.E.B. are long and laborious; a research for simplification would be carried out, as well as a rapid technic of dosage by C.C.M. would be developed.
